Meet Dr. Simmons
Dr. Wayne Simmons, Prosthodontist, D.M.D. Hello, I am Dr. Simmons, a prosthodontist in San Antonio, Texas and Charleston, South Carolina. A prosthodontist is a dentist who has completed a two or three year advanced training program beyond dental school specializing in the replacement of missing, injured, or altered dental structures, i.e. teeth, roots, bone, and gingiva (gums). It includes all of the following:
- Crowns (caps)
- Bridges (fixed and removable)
- Dentures
- Partial Dentures
Dr. Simmons has a heavy emphasis on the utilization of dental implants in his practice. In addition to being a trained Prosthodontist, Dr. Simmons is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology and Implant Dentistry. He provides surgical replacement of missing teeth, root structures and bone by incorporating dental implants and, when necessary, bone grafting in the treatment for his patients. Dental implants typically require to distinctive phases of treatment; first the prosthetic placement of an implant surgically into the bone to provide a functional replacement of a missing root (roots) of a tooth (teeth). Second, the fabrication and attachment of the tooth (teeth) to the implant(s). Dr. Simmons routinely provides these services for his patients. |

What we do...
My staff and I strive to restore the essential three factors of a healthy attractive smile. We can replace and restore one tooth or all your teeth utilizing dental implants as the support structure(s). With over 24 years of clinical practice experience as well as advanced training, my staff and I provide replacement teeth (facsimiles) for your entire mouth by utilizing surgical and reconstructive procedures incorporating dental implants and crowns. We also provide patients with excellent crowns, laminate veneers and fixed bridges over natural teeth serving as support.
Typically, the three main necessary elements required to provide patient satisfaction with dental treatment are:
- Function: The patient can chew, laugh, yawn, sneeze, smile with pride and be active within any social relationship with no concern
- Comfort: The patient can do all the normal lifestyle functions described above, without fear of embarrassment from loose teeth, movement, or bad breath. Above all NO PAIN
- Esthetics: The term "esthetics" or "aesthetics" refers to natural beauty: generally composed of proper shape and size, position, color and symmetry of the teeth, the gingival (gums) and bone structure. The term "cosmetic" is a term used to describe the enhancement of, or beautification of one's appearance through the use of addition of color (i.e. makeup), or the masking of blemishes, etc. A dental example might be bleaching or whitening of the natural teeth in order to achieve a more attractive smile. Tastefully done, cosmetics can be appealing and provide ENHANCEMENT of one's natural beauty but is, by definition, not natural. The best way to achieve esthetics is by creating the most natural, beautiful, functional, and healthy teeth possible using all dental innovations currently available.
